We work with you to facilitate the right referral pathway for each pupil,
then create the right programme to suit that pupil or group.
Constantly reviewing progress, supporting pupils & staff throughout the triage & referral process.
Our approach is as an individual as every child. We support any factor that makes school challenging for pupils.
We provide a full start up package; from undertaking your risk assessment, insurance, confidentiality agreement, HMRC IR35, provision of service level agreement, to pupil referral forms, we provide and organise it all.
Our aim is to integrate into your school,
supporting your pupils & staff
with a smile on our face and a wag in our tail!

Why have a dog mentor in your school, and why now?
Research on child-animal bonds has shown that it promotes healthy connections in the brain and helps strengthen intellectual, physical, emotional and creative processes.
"mental health problems among pupils has reached record highs:
Low self esteem 86%, depression 76%, and constant feeling of anger 68%" NAHT.
Supporting children with emotional intelligence and developing an emotionally literate school creates a safe, calm trusting environment, leading to less mental health problems. Dogs share all of the same emotions as a 21/2 year old child. The only emotions they do not share with humans are; shame, pride, guilt and contempt! They make excellent role models.
Science backs the fact that:
Dog mentoring is S.M.A.R.T.
It is much more than Smiles, Relaxation and Petting...
This study is the first randomized controlled trial to investigate dog-assisted interventions as a mediator of stress in school children with and without special educational needs (SEN) over the school term.
Interventions were individually and in small groups, x2/week for 20 minutes for 4 weeks.
It compared physiological changes in pupils salivary cortisol in a dog intervention group V's a relaxation intervention group and a no treatment control group.
Dog interventions lead to significantly lower stress in children, with and without special educational needs compared to other groups.
In neurotypical children, those in the dog interventions showed no baseline stress level increases over the school term. In addition, acute cortisol levels evidenced significant stress reduction following the interventions.
In contrast, the no treatment control group showed significant rises in baseline cortisol levels from beginning to end of school term. Increases also occurred in the relaxation intervention group.
Children with SEN showed significantly decreased cortisol levels after dog group interventions. No changes occurred in the relaxation or no treatment control groups.
These findings provide crucial evidence that dog interventions can successfully attenuate stress levels in school children with important implications for learning and wellbeing.
